My bust is quite small but I have generous hips and I want to balance out my figure. Many of the gowns I have tried on that fit my lower body have a bodice that just looks too big with an "empty" look in the bust area and those that fit nicely on my upper body are too tight across my hip area. You are the perfect example of the need for dual upper and lower garment sizing. The trick here is to show off the best of your body features which is a neat waist, and by using a larger sized skirt and smaller sized bodice, achieving the perfect body fit. We can then balance your silhouette with clever trims across the bust area, a drape or clever sleeve or dropped strap to "pull" the upper area outward to achieve the balance. I want to use something from my mother's bridal outfit and incorporate it into mine. Is this possible? It depends on the age and condition of the pieces. We have successfully re-modelled veils and also used some fabrics from our client's mother's gowns as trimmings on our pieces to achieve wonderful outcomes. This can be a very moving touch that can help you make a statement about how truly special and unique your relationship with your mother is.
